Yes, BandTrail is completely free to use. You can create an account, post adverts, browse listings, and contact other musicians without paying anything.
How do I create an account?
Click the 'Sign In' button in the top right corner and sign up using your Google account. It only takes a few seconds to get started.
Do I need an account to browse adverts?
No, you can browse all adverts without an account. However, you'll need to sign in to post your own adverts or contact other musicians.
Posting Adverts
How do I post an advert?
After signing in, click 'Post Advert' in the navigation menu. Fill in your details including your location, what type of musician you are (or what you're looking for), your musical genres, and a description. Your advert will be live immediately.
What makes a good advert?
A good advert is specific and detailed. Include your experience level, the genres you play, your availability, and what you're looking for. Be clear about whether you're seeking to join a band, form a new project, or offer session work. Adding information about your influences and equipment can also help attract the right connections.
Can I edit my advert after posting?
Yes, you can edit or delete your adverts at any time from the 'My Adverts' section in your account.
How long do adverts stay active?
Adverts remain active until you choose to remove them. We recommend keeping your advert up to date to ensure you receive relevant responses.
Can I post multiple adverts?
Yes, you can post multiple adverts if you're looking for different types of collaborations. For example, you might have one advert looking for a band to join and another offering session guitar services.
Finding Musicians
How do I search for musicians?
Use the search bar on the homepage or browse the adverts page. You can filter by location, distance, musician type, genre, and availability to find exactly what you're looking for.
Can I search by location?
Yes, location-based search is one of BandTrail's core features. Enter your city or postcode and set a radius to find musicians near you. You can search within 5, 10, 25, 50, or 100 miles of your location.
What do the different musician types mean?
Musician types help categorise adverts. Common types include: Vocalist, Guitarist, Bassist, Drummer, Keyboardist, Full Band, Session Musician, and more. You can filter by these types to find specific musicians.
How do I contact someone about their advert?
Click on an advert to view the full details, then use the 'Send Message' button to contact the poster directly. You'll need to be signed in to send messages.
Messaging & Communication
How does messaging work?
Once you're signed in, you can send messages to any user through their advert or profile. All your conversations are stored in the 'Messages' section of your account.
Will I be notified of new messages?
Yes, you'll receive notifications when you have new messages. Make sure to check your Messages inbox regularly for responses.
Is my contact information shared?
Your email address is not publicly displayed. All communication happens through BandTrail's messaging system until you choose to share personal contact details with someone.
